We are supporting a leading utilities and energy infrastructure contractor who are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to join their high-voltage substation team in Ireland.
This role will take ownership of the commissioning and energisation of HV electrical infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on protection systems. The successful candidate will lead commissioning activities across transmission and distribution projects, ensuring all works are carried out safely, compliantly, and to programme.
Lead and manage HV commissioning activities on transmission and distribution projects across Ireland
Act as the technical authority for commissioning queries on live projects
Build, develop, and lead a team of HV commissioning engineers
Plan, scope, and manage commissioning works, milestones, and deadlines
Coordinate FAT/SAT activities with vendors and attend where required
Manage project documentation including test protocols, compliance statements, and approvals
Liaise with engineering, safety, delivery teams, vendors, and clients
Ensure ongoing compliance with Irish grid codes, HV safety rules, and statutory regulations
Identify training needs and support competency development within the team
Contribute to business growth and new service line development
Support continuous improvement of HV safety rules and procedures
5–10 years’ experience commissioning HV substations
Approved ESB Commissioner
Strong knowledge of Irish grid codes and HV safety regulations
Full, clean driving licence
Desirable:
Experience managing commissioning teams
Exposure to FAT/SAT planning and delivery
Experience working on large-scale transmission or substation projects
Strong leadership and people management skills
Excellent project planning and stakeholder engagement ability
Highly safety-focused with a structured approach to delivery
Proficient in MS Office; MS Project experience advantageous
Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and commercially aware
